The Advanced Executive Program helps newspaper
leaders enhance their perspective on the industry
and sharpen their performance as media executives.
AEP is an intense,
three-week seminar to help senior newspaper leaders
be informed and armed to meet the challenges of
supporting their organization's mission and values.
It combines the best of the Kellogg School of
Management and Medill's School of Journalism to
impart practical experience, academic knowledge
and research in strategy, leadership, marketing
and journalism.
Participants are immersed in a team-building
approach to learning with topics that include:
- Leading change in the newspaper
- Innovation strategies
- Managing and measuring for journalistic excellence
- Steps toward building brand
- Mergers and acquisition problems and solutions
- Employee development
- Leading a changing workforce
The AEP program combines practical experience from the Center's work with newspapers around the world with the latest research from the Readership Institute and top business schools in the nation. The Center's roots run deep in executive education for the industry, having started as the Newspaper Management Center in 1989 and continuing our goal to offer quality executive education for newspaper leaders.
Who Should Attend
Corporate executives, publishers and general managers
of newspapers will benefit from networking with
old and new colleagues in this team-based learning
program. Leaders of newspaper operations and those
who have been designated as future leaders in
editorial, finance, circulation and HR have found
the curriculum vital in meeting the challenges
of their roles.
